I caught a bit of Big Fat Sam today bemoaning the lack of English managers getting a job. Whilst there's a point there that the new Huddersfield managers appointment is a bit leftfield, I'd argue the reasons the likes of Chris Wilder and maybe Lee Johnson aren't in the PL is that BFS, Pards, Redknapp, Hughes and Pulis would fill any job going at the expense of someone up and coming due to the lack of imagination of Premier League chairman.

What he really meant was that none of his mates have a job, they've all been found out and they all moan about it over a pint of wine.
Spot on....

This thread pops up at least once every 2-3 months. With the usual 'anyone who listens to TalkSport is lazy, ignorant, stupid etc' comments.

Personally I think it's alright. Few too many adverts and very repetitive. Brazil is a gaff prone pisshead who rarely does any research, no different to a lot of average blokes in the pub apart from his short pro football career - and for me that's why I enjoy listening to him. TalkSport aren't oblivious to what he is like, hence he is on Clips of the Week every Friday. Amusing tuning in to hear Danny Kelly or Max Rushden have been have been called in at the last minute because Brazil is 'sick.' Adrian Durham is simply a wind up merchant - and again TS don't exactly hide from the fact.

The only person I would love to see off the airwaves is that complete tit Micky Quinn. Following the Liverpool game he described the Albion as a Championship side. He has a proper chip on his shoulder for us for some reason.

Quinn is the worst thing on the station

How is someone that tortured horses allowed on national radio to discuss horses?

Durham and Gough are awful. 6 minutes of ads and travel news every 15 minutes, followed by 9 minutes of the incredibly thick Gough shouting his agreement at every boring wind up from Durham. People tune in for schadenfreude - if ManU, ManC, Arsenal, Chelsea, LFC or Spurs have a single minor setback, wnkr Durham makes it the theme, then £ mugs of the other clubs call in to slag off Guardiola, Klopp, Poch, Sarri etc. Pathetic.

I can’t believe I listened to that crap, when there’s R5, R4, Absolute 80’s, ClassicFM.

I also like TalkSport.

That doesn't mean I like all the presenters.

Brazil is an ignorant **** who has very little knowledge of football in general and none about football outside the top 6. Much like most people down the pub and some on here. Some of his co-presenters are good. Dean Saunders talks a lot of sense.

Jim White loves the sound of his own voice too much but again, some of his co-presenters are OK. Simon Jordan is good value

Hawksbee and Jacobs are superb and their show is the stand-out. Perfect interplay between Hawksbee the professional journalist and Jacobs the hysterical fan who loves to have a moan about his team.

Durham is good. I always thought he was a professional wind-up merchant who deliberately sets up to have a row. I have spoken to a few paople who owrk as producers on his show and they say he isn't like that at all. Believes passionately in what he says. Good entertainment and Darren Gough has grown into his role as Durham's stooge.

Danny Kelly is excellent and has a number of very good co-presenters.

Andy Goldstein is good and as long as Jason Cundy isn't co-presenting, it's a good show. Darren Lewis is a good stand-in

At the weekend, Georgie Bingham is decent and Tony Cascarino ok as her co-host.

Mike Parry is a massive ****

Max Rushden and Barry Glendenning are very, very good and their show on Sundays is superb.

They also have, in Sam Matterface, one of the best commentators around.

I'd rather listen to people talking about football, even though some of them are bellends, than not.

And Micky Quinn is a complete prick

TalkSport is also the only place you can get ball by ball commentary on the cricket

This is so sadly true. A number of years ago a vowed never to listen to the absolute rubbish on THAT station, but today at 15.00 I will have to crawl back to it like a married man looking at 15 year old porn mags he hid in the loft..

Max and Barry on Sunday are very entertaining as they're in a minority of not taking anything to do with football, or themselves, too seriously. H&J are ok for the same reason. The rest of that station is a neverending ocean of dreck and adverts, which is why I mostly listen to pods now.

The Two Mikes on a Friday night is the best show of the week hands down. Gutted they got pulled from the nightly graveyard shift. But off the pack of it they now do a no holds barred podcast twice a week which is hilarious.

Parry is a persona/parody - and very much marmite. For me he is one funny ****a.

Yep, that just about sums it up. I just mentally block out the adverts, same as I do on the tele.

TalkSport is also the only place you can get ball by ball commentary on the cricket.
That's a disgrace - cricket should be on the BBC, or at least not on a station you can only get on a digital radio or on line. Really pi$$es me off that I can't listen to cricket in the car.

Pretty much agree with all this, though Andy Jacobs probably needs to be pensioned off.

Ally McCoist also does a good turn IMO.

What do you expect?

Yesterday they had Redknapp on with Brazil both moaning about Huddersfield going for the German coach rather than an English one as he wouldn’t know the championship. Well it didn’t do Wagner any harm before and Bielsa and Falke seem to be doing ok this year!

Unsurprisingly Warnock is also a regular contributor. Bunch of ignorant brexit supporting gammons, football dinosaurs.

Oh FFS, I can't go anywhere without this coming up. Can we please try to avoid dragging this into absolutely every conversation.

I've listened to it recently to avoid listening to brexitbollocks

Try podcasts. Pick your topic, huge range out there, and you won't find that wretched topic sneeking into the likes of the Telegraph Football Daily, or Flintoff, Savage and the Ping Pong Guy. The Infinite Monkey Cage is very good as well.

Honestly, there is so much more out there than just TalkSh1te as an alternative to endless brexitbollocks.

Caught Max and Barry on a long drive up north over Christmas and yes they are good. My wife was asked by me to explain ‘Culverhouse’

Podcasts are often used in the 'don't listen to Talksport' argument. However for me they always have one problem. They are out of date immediately. That's the reason why i listen to the radio - it's current, up to the minute news and opinion.

Interesting to see a few pro Talksport voices piping up. Personally i think Hiney's analysis was spot on.

I nearly had a heart attack then before I checked that TMS still have the home series. Thanks for the heads up though. Gotta drive in a bit so will put Talk Sport on for the test.

If you are looking for insight into "current" matters, then avoid Brazil at all costs. Talk about the old days, and a brief rave about a top 6 team before talking endlessly about a liquid lunch.

But yes, I think Hiney was pretty close to it. H&J have always been excellent, as is Danny Kelly, while Max and Barry are possibly the best thing on the radio. So, yes, for it's faults, of which there are many, and they massively outweigh the rest, it is not true to say it is all garbage. But I don't get to listen during the day, so it's the two driving slots for me, which leaves me with Brazil and Durham which isn't what I want to be listening to, so simply don't anymore.

My wife was asked by me to explain ‘Culverhouse’

For now, she just needs to know that it's the first to say "Ian Culverhouse" that wins. There are far too many intricate details to go into them all, she'll just have to pick them up as she goes.
