The party are in such a bad state they are heading for a decade in the wilderness like themselves and Labour before. Boris is simply a symptom of what the party have become.

Free spending populism and only catering for your core vote only gets you so far.

i'm sure as soon as depeffelfeffel is gone, the "silent" tories will flood back and say everything is alright now

forgive my ignorance, but what did lloyd george muck up?

and also, shirley he's gone before the month turns,

i won't take you up on the bet tho' :p

Lloyd George invented cash for peerages. The practice was legal and dated back several decades partly for new money to discreetly acquire titles; Lloyd George made the practice more systematic and more brazen, charging £10,000 for a knighthood, £30,000 for baronetcy, and £50,000 upwards for a peerage.

Slightly off topic but a friend took out a fifty two grand personal loan to pay for refurbishments to their company-owned flat after they were told they couldn’t claim for it on expenses. Now, 6 months later, it looks like they might lose their job - and therefore the flat that comes with it. So they’re wondering what’s the best way to remove gold wallpaper that cost £840 a roll?

If only there were some indications or red flags that this might happen before everyone voted.

Some people credit Lord North as being the worst PM ( 1770 - 1782 ) who was responsible for losing the American Colonies.

Is there any other job where you can totally trash the 'company brand', have several, respected, senior staff resign in protest at your behaviour, yet still be allowed to carry on as if **** all had happened? It defies belief, it really does.

Then be made a Lord.

Leave it and walk away - they can write a book, perhaps present some TV shows (perhaps a panel show with some political satire involved), write for magazines and newspapers and take handouts from any generous Russian pals they might have. They’ll be fine :D

Christ this country is ****ed. You forgot, 'he got brexit done!'

He got Brexit done in the sense that he ensured we would leave at a time when there were a lot of influential people trying to ensure the opposite. That’s what that phrase means to me. With Labour now committed to the same thing there is a sense that Johnson’s usefulness is now over and people can vote on other issues. As for Corbyn, well he is a lifelong eurosceptic so it’s a shame for him that he missed his opportunity to follow through on that belief. I guess he was too weak to do what Starmer has done.

You are joking aren’t you. So Brexit to you meant leaving but with no plan in place. That’s is …. biblically stupid.

I think that’s unfair, they clearly had a plan at the last election. An oven ready deal for Brexit, to get Brexit done. You know the deal they want to break international law to get out of.
Let’s give them some credit, they had a plan, it just wasn’t very good.

Nadhim Zahawi as the new Chancellor.

Stable Government, warm, taxpayer funded stable Government.

Probably not what Theresa May meant.
