Goldstone apart, which one was your favourite?

My favourite was the Baseball Ground. No rational explanation as I’ve only been there once and we lost in a Cup game on a midweek evening. Maybe it was because it was the first time I had mushy peas with my fish and chips. The atmosphere that night was something special too. Proper old fashioned stadium right in the middle of a residential area.
Went to the above game & agree, having also seen the Albion at these grounds.
White Hart Lane (if that counts)
The Dell
Highbury
The Den, Cold Blow Lane
Gay Meadow (Shrewsbury)
Upton Park
Eastville
Saltergate (Chesterfield)
Edgar Street

I have been to the following with the Albion that sadly no longer exist. Loved all the old grounds, however dilapidated - favourite was probably Upton Park as a great atmosphere and so close to the pitch.

Highfield Road - Coventry
Baseball Ground - Derby
Victoria Ground - Stoke
Manor Ground - Oxford
Boothbery Park - Hull
The Den - Millwall
Layer Road - Colchester
White Hart Lane - Spurs
Elm Park - Reading
Plough Lane - Wimbledon
The County Ground - Northampton
Fellows Park - Walsall
Springfield Park - Wigan
Saltergate - Chesterfield
Upton Park - West Ham
Twerton Park - Bristol Rovers
Roker Park - Sunderland
Belle View - Doncaster
Sealand Road - Chester
Main Road - Man City
Filbert Street - Leicester
Gay Meadow - Shrewsbury
Ayresome Park - Middlesbrough
Burden Park - Bolton
The Dell - Southampton
Vetchfield - Swansea
Leeds Road - Huddersfield
Ninian Park - Cardiff
Feethams - Darlington
Highbury - Arsenal
Old Wembley Stadium

Plus I went to Scunthorpes old ground when our game at Hull was snowed off.

Rest in peace, Underhill. A ground with real character and that slope! The chairman's done the dirty on them and sold the ground for a soulless Hive stadium seven miles away, virtually halving turnouts.

Some good visits there in the late nineties - usually a 1-0 win. The Nigerian illegal immigrant. I can't even begin to spell his name!
I think the Nigerian was Emeka Ifeagwa. Has Victoria Ground and Highfield Road been mentioned?

Someone should take all those wonderful names, and do a footie version of Flanders & Swan's "The Slow Train"

This is, in a good way, the English-est thing I have ever heard or seen.
Well, this and Roy Marsden's Goodbye. Mr. Chips.

I remember as a boy -- 1967 or so -- listening to the BBC World Service read off all the results. (Had no idea it was for the pools. In the States, no one knew/knows what they were/are.)

It was magical:

It was magical.

"Wolverhampton Wanderers one, Preston North End nil..."
"Hamilton Academical nil, Hearrt of Midlothian, nil".

I guess it has some of the "Shipping Forecast" pixie dust on it.

Yes it is I was wrong. Hereford folded and reformed. Same ground different club.
Following the winding up of Hereford United on 19 December 2014, the Hereford United Supporters Trust (HUST) vowed to start a new phoenix club.

Interesting that the ground was worth saving and not bull dozed for a new Residential/ Commercial development.

Gay Meadow was included , LOL. I missed out Underhill and Millmoor. How many grounds have Brighton played at that have now been demolished? I never made Eastville, also didn't get to the one time Brighton played at Odsal (I think still used for Rugby?) and I am sure there must be other grounds from before my time (pre 1974). Twerton is still used by Bath City.
