I find it highly unlikely the USA will be on the red list, the talks between us and the states are progressing well and I expect flights to be starting up in June

What I imagine will happen is a LFT test before you depart and on Arrival - which is what is happening with the Milan - NYC trial route atm

4.6 million jabs yesterday and 176 jabs in total - I imagine the anti vax people will get a jab despite the talk.

Looking at the states - Georgia is the only state that really stands out for low uptake.

The one shot Johnson and Johnson will make it easier to convince

I was of the same mindset given the astounding vaccination figures they've been ploughing through over there, but the articles I linked to tell a different story at what may happen imminently once the high volume of anti-vaxxers is reached.

Michigan has a pretty decent vaccination uptake to date, but they are struggling now and the signs are that other states may be starting to head the same way again. We know ourselves what the B.1.1.7 strain can do once it becomes the prominent variant in circulation.

In short, we know that the situation with this virus can change quite rapidly, and there are signs that the direction of travel in the US is not quite as positive as the vaccination rates imply. Hopefully their vaccination programme will win out, but with our government seemingly being more cautious now than previously, and with Ireland red-listing the US, it may not take too much for a better-safe-than-sorry approach to be taken.

If the U.K. is anything to go by the anti vax groups are very loud but low in number, the uptake here is incredible.

I’m not sure I would take much notice of Ireland, they seem to be on a zero covid approach, I don’t think they even have schools open yet?

I’m meant to be going to Vegas in June and I’m pretty sure I will be able to fly if I want to.

Michigan is interesting as there was a jump in positives in Israel during the vaccine roll out before it dipped, let’s hope it’s that.

I only skim read the article, but I didn’t see much about companies making it difficult for those without vaccine - Vegas casinos have said workers don’t have to have a jab, but they have to have 3 tests a week at their own expense to carry on working there.

The report you shared maybe right, I think we will know more around the end of the month when it’s a vaccine free for all age wise, but I remain confident.

Certainly the least Texas place I've been too, in Texas.

The Texas governor reopened the state almost straight after it was locked down, and I believe vaccine take-up hasn't been high.

That's true. I suppose I was guilty of thinking it was going to be full of rednecks and it wasn't. Very liberal and very out of step with the rest of the State

Well the governer is not looking too silly at the moment. He lifted restrictions a month ago and case numbers haven't changed.

Here in Texas admittedly take up is slow but it’s growing. Anyone over 16 can now get vaccinated and cases, deaths and hospitalizations are all down. I got my first one on Friday. I hit the website on Wed, chose my appointment time and got it confirmed in 5 mins. We have drive through centers all over the place. Currently stands at 14m vaccinated.
