Chris Wilder sacked today….that’s eight clubs who have a different manager after approximately 11 games of the season ..only one chose to leave

Steve Bruce next?

Probably is like Wenger said: people would be shocked if they understood how little football knowledge there is in most boardrooms.

There's data that shows when sacking a manager is likely to bring you better results, as well as when it is a good idea to keep the manager of a struggling team. I think most owners are probably not interested in that, they just see results and push the big red button... over and over again.

Frequently sacking managers creates complacency in a club. If you sack the manager, or multiple managers, every year, everyone else knows that they really don't need to maximise efforts to get results since the manager will get the blame anyway.

Sacking a manager doesn't change a lot for most clubs. It pays to stick by a decent manager in lean times. Ferguson being the most famous example.

It's also incredibly expensive. You've also got to get rid of back room staff, then you often have to spend money buying another manager out of a contract.

Then the new manager will only come in if they know they've got money to buy new players.

Far better to take the time to find someone who is obviously at least competent, fits the culture of the club, then stick with them even if results go bad.

Shocking way to treat such a manager. West Brom 'fans' chanting to him 'you don't know what you're doing'. Given he has managed over 900 games and overseen several promotions, I think he very much does.
