Anyone know what the situation is ahead of Saturday?

Southern timetable looks normal for Saturday, presume they are not part of the strike?

Bound to be cancellations due to lack of train crew, or buckled rails due to the heat, so yes a normal Saturday service.

Trains on Saturday

Travelling down from South London on Saturday.
The latest from Thameslink is that their drivers aren't striking, but they expect services to be severely affected.

My plan is Bus to East Croydon - Thameslink to Brighton - Walk to the stadium.
Going to allow an extra couple of hours for the journey.

Anyone know what the likelihood of the Brighton service running on the day?
Any other options I should consider?

Southern are running aren't they? So services from to Falmer shouldn't be affected (anymore than they would normally be by the cluster**** that is Southern).

Southern and thameslink services are fine , just watch the thameslink Cambridge and Peterborough services as for some reason they always get disrupted on a Saturday

Just curious how the services can be fine, as it's a train driver's strike?
Are Southern and Thamelink non-union? or do they belong to a different Union?

Their ASLEF members voted not to strike

Also to answer your other question, Thameslink services will only be affected north of St Pancras, mainly due to overcrowding due to no LNER or Greater Anglia running so will be your end. I'd recommend getting as Southern service to Hove and then using the shuttle to Brighton if you are really concerned.

Hope the trains can manage more carriages as staff on platforms count in for more carriages then its carnage getting on. I would like to see improvements overall but doubt i will.

How hard is it to ensure the train is full before it pulls away? So frustrating seeing half empty train pulling away after a game whilst stuck on the bridge waiting to get on. All it needs is a bit of common sense and communication.
