Composer of one of the most iconic tunes of the last 60 years

94 years, take a bow Monty

Apparently the Bond composer actually passed away on Monday 11th July and not today.

Quite literally, a case of 'Die Another Day'.

Or maybe 'You Only Live Twice'?

I’ve had food poisoning all week only saw yesterday.

And with him being from the 7 Tribes of Israel he’s already probably been buried

He didn't compose it. John Barry did. He did get the credits however.

Cubby, Harry Saltzman, Peter Hunt and Terence Young all said they were not happy with the theme Norman created. This is his version of the Bond theme:

Pretty nice, but not on the same level as the one that ended up being one of (if not the) the most famous theme songs of all time.

As the people involved were not happy, they had a crisis meeting and Norman suggested that he would instead rework this song:

John Barry was brought in to rearrange it, he didn't think any of it was useful and only agreed when he was given free hands. Norman said "ok, go ahead - but you're not getting any credit for it". Barry wanted to get into the film business, so he agreed to do it for 250 pounds and no credit. And his version sounds like this:

Norman got the credit and the royalites. John Barry did all the work.

John Barry was a true genius. I was so, so lucky to see him conduct the English Chamber Orchestra at the RAH in '99, playing some of his best Bond and other songs (Zulu, Midnight Cowboy etc). Barry was one of a kind. Anyway, Monty still deserves credit and rip.

You arrange funerals?

Another poster on this thread does, but he has already said he wasn't aware of this and that his belief is that he will have been laid to rest quickly.
