The fact is, the paper versions of these papers are all dying out and they need a new income. Sadly, that now comes from click-bait titles for hits on their website and advertising income from those advertising on said pages. I still think Brian Owen is a decent football journo too who is still pretty reliable.

I struggle to get why people get so angry about it all (as with most things). The Argus is never going to get the transfer scoop ahead of the bigger agencies.

Didn't know people still announced stuff in papers these days

I applied for an alcohol licence last year and I had to put an announcement in a local paper to allow concerned locals to object - there was a list of about three and they all charged north of £200 for a few lines which I doubt anyone read.

I suspect that there are still quite a few things where there is a statutory requirement to have an announcement in a physically printed newspaper. It may not be long before there are papers whose main source of income is this sort of thing.
