This bit of reporting from Naylor is useful in speculating who of the loanee army is going to be considered in Potter's plans for next season/who is likely to go on further loans. (apart from the obvious). He also confirms the reporting around Enciso.
https://theathletic.com/3337058/2022/05/31/brighton-transfers-enciso-cucurella/

In: Undav, Khadra, JVH, Mitoma, Enciso (if they can do the deal)
Loans: Sima, Kozlowski

He also confirms that Alzate is still very much in Potter's plans.

Interesting. Depends who we lose too tho. Biss gone IMHO. Others? I hope not, but…

In an attacking sense, we surely don’t have room in the squad for Welbeck, Maupay, Trossard, Sarmiento, Undav, Khadra, Mitoma and Enciso?

There will surely be some outs if the last 4 are coming in. In addition, Zeqiri, Andone and Connolly are clearly not in Potter’s thoughts for the 22/23 season.

Enciso will surely do his half/full season stint at USG.

Shane Duffy being honest about his prospects for first team football at Albion in 22/23 and how game time to protect his Ireland place is his priority.
Talks with club planned after international break.

Naylor reporting that Veltman, Dunk, Webster remain key centre backs with Van Hecke likely to be joining them in squad. Ostigard (some reports that this transfer is already underway) and Clarke likely to exit this summer .
Seen no reporting about Roberts prospects but my guess is a loan.

That makes sense to me - Duffy is a fine player in a certain mould, a mould which doesn't naturally fit us these days. A wonderful servant to the club but deserves more game time and that's probably away from us. Van Hecke is the natural successor to be CB No.4 of five with Couch being the one that can drop in if required, probably meaning Roberts is the man to go on loan but his break through season comes 23/24 when theoretically we look like VH, Roberts, Webster.

Is 'dropping in a couch' a variant on 'parking the bus'?

The transfer window in Scotland has opened today so any deals to Scottish clubs can officially happen now.

Otherwise, for England, tomorrow is the day.

Leeds relegation escape probably means they won’t want to develop Roberts (who they quite fancy) for us now which is either a good or bad thing depending on your perspective.

Personally, I thought they did a good job developing White for us and wished they were back in the Championship to do more of the same. I can’t see the likes of Burnley giving Roberts the same education.

So, as Enciso is U21, we've got an additional space in the squad now.

5 more still need to be sold or go out on loan before we someone else can take up a squad place. Obviously, there is very little chance of a few players like Andone being named in the 25 anyway

We don’t need to sell or send someone out on loan before we sign anyone.

The rule is we can only name a maximum of 25 players in the Premier League squad, we could have as many players as we like on our books, we just couldn’t use those not named in league games. Obviously it’s a waste of money to work that way but we can sign someone at anytime despite the number of players we currently have.

I'm sure we'll have plenty from that list out on loan by the time the Premier League squads are confirmed.

I'd expect a number from this group will be loaned / sold. The 6 squad players in Bold.

3. Scherpen (2025) or
U21. Rushworth (2025)
U21. Karbownik (2024)
5. Cochrane ( HGP ) (2023)

U21. Jenks
27. Andone (2023)

I’d flog Maupay and bring in Destiny & BBD. Loan or sell the rest ending up with this 25:

1. Sanchez ( HGP ) (2025)
2. Steele ( HGP ) (2023)
3. Rushworth (2025)
4. Lamptey (HGP) (2025)
5. March ( HGP ) (2024 + option)
6. Cucurella (2026)
7. Veltman (2023 + option)
8. Webster ( HGP ) ( 2026)
9. Dunk ( HGP ) (2025)
10. Destiny Udogie (2026)
11. Van Hecke (2023)
12. Mac Allister (2023)
13. Caicedo (2025)
14. Moder (2025)
15. Alzate ( HGP ) (2024)
16. Lallana ( HGP ) (2023)
17. Groß (2024)
18. Enciso (2026)
19. Sarmiento ( HGP ) (2026)
20. Trossard (2023 + option)
21. Mitoma (2025)
22. Brereton-Diaz (2026)
23. Welbeck ( HGP ) (2023 + maybe longer)
24. Undav (2026)
25. Mwepu (2025)

That would be a 20 man squad as Rushworth, Caicedo, Enciso, Sarmiento and Destiny (if we signed him) are still under 21s for the coming season so wouldn't be in the named 25 man squad. Room for a couple of more signings if we fancied it (or we could stick Andone in there :moo:).

Looks realistic.

The outstanding issues for me are :

1 - Cucurella / replacement.

2 - The Duffy / Clarke / New signing conundrum.

3 - The Maupay / New signing choice.

I suspect Maupay stays and we sign at least 1 new defender.
