[Misc] Is being labelled "overrated" overrated?

Overused, and almost always wrong, almost by definition. If most people think someone is overrated then they can't be overrated. However, unless everyone rates everything the same then everything is both overrated and underrated with respect to the average rating.

fairly applies with every "next best thing" that turns to be a crap, or even if it is better, is expensive or comes with major drawbacks (cf iPhone). similar with bands when they've past their novel stage, the trend moved on but Radio One still fawns over them (cf Coldplay).
The bigger picture is hype . . . Advertise and sell your wares by all means, but placement, sponsorship and bullshit creates hype too much hype.
Those that deliberately pursue that path are overatted. As is their product. Or they wouldn't be doing it.
