The screen on a MacBook Air we've had for about 9 years has just died:

screen 2.001.jpeg

It looks pretty terminal, and since we were thinking of getting a new machine soon anyway, we're going to go ahead and buy a new one.

My question is: if I take the old one to an Apple Store, will they be able to get data and files off the hard drive for us, so we can put them onto the new machine?

I'm kind of hoping that's all still there, just with a fecked screen it's obviously impossible to 'do' anything on the machine any more.

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Should be possible unless there’s damage to the hard drive (unlikely).

Apple Store should be able to sort you out.
