To be honest, it is a shite song though...

My wife is of the opinion that it will send a message to the Russian public that are avid fans of Eurovision.
"hang on why has everyone voted for the Ukraine, when they are Neo Nazis, something is wrong with what our leaders (Putin) are telling us"

I say

They won't even be allowed to watch it, it will not be televised, and even if they do, the state will put a spin on it, to the tune of the west is conspiring against us, it is propoganda.

So my argument is, so why bother, just have a fair contest, otherwise what is the point, show Russia it is fair, not just a sympathy vote.
Probably not a popular idea though, but that is my stance.

For what it is worth.

PS: Don't get me started on why Australia and Israel are allowed in to Eurovision..

We might get some points from Ukraine this year - so may avoid coming last.

I had the misfortune of Mrs Bodian wishing to watch both semi-finals. Last night was awful, but the first one wasn't too bad.

I enjoyed this one!

edit - I see I was beaten to it by Barrow Boy

Nil points - for us !!!
Same old - and just how does Australia meet Euro criteria - #jokecontest

But Ukraine to win - what might that do for next year's contest which is supposed to be hosted in the previous winner's country - can see Mr Putin allowing that?

Biggest waste of licence fee payers money on the BBC.

Its watched by nearly half the TV audience available that night (48% share in 2021) - and last year the 7.8 million live audience was the biggest its been for 7 years.
its also one of the most popular entertainment programmes in the UK every year for u35s.

PS: Space Man is in with a shout (best UK entry for years) but i'm also quite keen on Sweden.

I can’t stand it but then I’m not the target audience. However, it gives people a great deal of fun, it’s a bit of a laugh and people enjoy it. Doesn’t seem like wasted money to me.

Now my going out every night to gigs and pub (Don't have kids folks) I must admit I watch it.

The wife and daughter love it, a few years ago, I laminated score cards from 1-10 plus a poo emoji and every year I print out a scorecard. we watch it and have a laugh giving scores and totting them up, we have a sweepstake of about 7 countries each between four of us, me, wife, daughter and the bloody cat who won £20 last year (she wasted it on catnip)

Good laugh, I never thought I would say that to be honest.

Not Psychobilly, but it is in a way....

We quite enjoy it these days, and think Sweden & Czech Republic have songs that are in with a shout of the win. We will be watching the Will Ferrell Eurovision film before the finals start tomorrow too.

How Norway's wolf duo got through I dont know, and Ukraines will be purely a sympathy win if they are voted to the top...terrible song. Quite a few songs over the two semis, who didn't get through, that were much better than those two!

You can often tell by the reaction in the crowd as to what has been popular on social media already - and therefore likely to get the popular vote. They loved the wolf duo.

I am no fan at all of Eurovision, but it takes a few minutes to find out that -

The total cost or Eurovision is just over 6m euros. (divided between the many countries that take part - apparently BBC pay £0.3m) - https://eurovision.tv/about/faq

For comparison, Sky pay in the region of £10m per game of PL football - https://www.sbibarcelona.com/newsdetails/index/403 (from the same article, BT 'only' pay just over £6m per game)

Of course, if you are so dead against it, you would resent paying 30p - but that (to me) is the beauty of the BBC, it has something for everyone. If people want to enjoy it, let them - if you don't want to watch it, there are plenty of other choices.

Don't come here using logic, reason and basic facts to spoil a good BBC bashing.

We all know Ukraine will win - that's not up for debate.

BUT - I actually think the UK entry could do quite well. It's such an awful bland song (real wallpaper music from a Thor wannabee) but that's what might do us a favour.

It's so crap, it could actually do well.

It's high camp glamorous entertainment. Perfect for getting Daily Mail readers in a proper froth.

I'm sure there's 'keeping up appearances' and Mrs Browns boys on another channel to cover.

FWLIW It's been broadcast in Aus for decades, a mate is a TV producer and works on it for their broadcast . . .says its hillariously good fun . . . no idea why Aus are allowed in ( he's Aussie) but who cares! we're allowed and we're not European.
