I remember almost dropping my Chinese takeaway when I heard that Derby had equalised.

Just four heroes left at the club now, Bruno, Dunk, Duffy and March. Will always be my favourite squad, that season was magical - well apart from playing half cut for the next few matches and the silent drive home from Villa.

The next day wasn’t hang over from hell :)

I took a week to recover from that long weekend. Kicked it off with watching Wolves game at my mates then a huge old sesh at the Escape Club 90s reunion with Brandon Block. Finished with drinking in the North Stand until the official confirmation via the Huddersfield game and then cracking a bottle of champers back at home.

Apparently that's not great for you when you're middle aged :lolol:

I remember that day thinking that we had achieved what I dearly hoped would be possible when the plans for the Amex were first put forward.

A top championship club, with the occasional foray into the premier ???

I remember almost dropping my Chinese takeaway when I heard that Derby had equalised.

I ended up in the West Lower and was there when that happened. (Inigo Calderon appeared in the concourse shortly beforehand as well to great excitement, which made it all the more surreal.) Everyone who was out on the pitch or outside the stadium came rushing in afterwards to watch the end of it after the equaliser. There was about 5 minutes stoppage time I think, then when the game ended it was carnage............beer thrown everywhere, strangers hugging each other....

Then Tony Bloom re-appeared to lead the singing from the West, waving a scarf above his head and everyone rushed out to go back on the pitch and I was stood there right under him in the West Lower and then these 2 club employees appeared escorting 2 women and some little kids, one of whom sat down on a seat to play on a games console thing and I said to him 'Oi mate, is your Grandad Chris Hughton?' and he looked up at me and said - 'yeah'.

I ended up hugging Mrs Cheryl Hughton and telling her to thank her husband so much and then got into a conversation with his daughter Aisha. :drink:

What a day that was.

I lost my sense of smell last year and the things I used to like to smell are hard to remember, but 100% I can still smell the pitch grass I knelt down and kissed,no doubt covered in gob but I couldn't give a toss,Grass is the only remaining sensory smell I remember exactly how it smells.

I could be in a bread making factory and wouldn't have a clue how bread used to smell.

A perfect day.

Fantastic day tinged with the memory how long will it take our fans to understand we won't win so many games in the Premier League and that basically we now just make up the numbers.

Also those fans that claim they hate modern football, how would they react as we had now made the promised land.

First game I took my stepdaughter to, and what a game it was. Not sure she was expecting the win, the atmosphere or the pitch invasion. Lost my voice with all the singing. Magical day.
