Tom Haines doing his chances of being poached by Surrey no harm at all.

To all intents and purposes, he’s already a Surrey player on loan to us

The commentators are doing a great job of removing any excitement of Pujara playing for us

County captains very rarely leave for another county - I'm trying to think of an example when that's happened. I certainly can't recall a Sussex captain leaving to go elsewhere - although there are examples of sacked captains leaving (Alan Wells and, er, Ben Brown)

Was Chris Adams captain of Derbyshire before he came to us?

Anyone else watching this on YouTube? Good knock so far from Haines

Deepest, darkest Sussex
Just looked up our team from the first game of 2019. Only Haines played both (Robbo also played in 2019). Everyone else is gone.

Lunch, Day One

Sussex 101-0 (31 overs), Ali Orr 41* (95 balls, 5 fours) Tom Haines 55* (92 balls, 8 fours) :clap2:

Not quite what Mullaney was hoping for on insertion.

True. It’s hard not to be cynical when Sussex have a decent player on their hands, though.

Tea, Day One

Sussex 189-4 (64 overs), Tom Clark 36* Danial Ibrahim 2*

A better session for Notts.... it could go either way after tea.

Indeed. Its a very long tail. If these two go quickly 250 looks more likely than 350.

Decent start in this match. Hopefully we'll be in the game after both teams have batted.

Lots of faith that longterm will be in the best hands. Can just get on with supporting these young lads now..
