One of the sites I post on ( world war 1 photographs) I pointed them to an ex military guy in hove and he finds and cleans old military gravestones in the local cemeteries. He does some amazing stuff and there are fantastic pictures he puts on Historical Hove Actually of his work

Anyway, someone described him as “ a green bucket” he was in the Royal Green Jackets

What does the nickname actually mean?

A corruption of words perhaps? Green Jackets - Green buckets. A similar one is the Coldstream Guards - Coldcream. I am just guessing mind you.
