MI5 has issued a rare warning that an alleged Chinese agent has infiltrated Parliament to interfere in UK politics.

An alert from the security service said Christine Ching Kui Lee "established links" for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) with current and aspiring MPs.

She then gave donations to politicians, with funding coming from foreign nationals in China and Hong Kong.

It comes after a "significant, long-running" investigation by MI5, Whitehall sources told the BBC.

One of the MPs funded by Ms Lee was Labour's Barry Gardiner, who received over £420,000 from her in five years - but he said he had always made the security services aware of the donations.

Well thats all right then. Who cares is you got half a million quid for a corrupt and despotic regime as long as you told someone.

Barry Gardiner has received most of the £700k donations from Ms Lee

People claim the Chinese are super advanced, but clearly not given they looked at all the MPs and went for one in the bottom 10% ability-wise.

My niece works in the houses of Parliament lobbying on behalf of German company DHL . Loads going on so trying to influence British politics is likely widespread not just limited to China.

implies continued so MI5 could continue to monitor the agent.

And decide to release it the day after Boris is completely torn apart in the House of Commons ???

Obvious distraction tactics in my view. I'm more concerned about the secret meetings Patel was forced to resign for in the past, yet a couple of years later got elevated to home secretary position... All very fishy.

I suppose one must ask what can we take away from this?

It's strange, there seems to be no problem about all the Russian money sloshing around the Tory party....just one Chinese person splashing the cash and there is a panic....was it suspicious because she wasn't giving enough cash away?
