Never tire of this movie classic.

A plethora of A listers, hard to imagine that they started filming only 18 years after the actual escape.

I appreciate times have changed, but I hope there never comes a time when they deliberately don’t show this film due to a TV exec thinking it’s ‘inappropriate’?

Afraid I went for 'Nothing like a Dame' on BBC 2 at the same time. Truly superb Documentary on Dames Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Joan Plowright and Eileen Atkins.

Think I made the right decision :thumbsup:

TV Execs will show what they think will be popular among the majority of their viewers, because that's their job.

In an era where unlimited free porn is available on the internet to anyone with Private Mode I doubt war films will disappear.

A fluffy war movie even the Nazi’s come across as half decent people. I like war movies just prefer the more realistic type, the 12th man is an excellent watch.

I believe they only included the Steve McQueen character in the film to attract American money to either make it, sell it or both.

The escape actually took place from the British section of the camp.
