He signed his first contract with us in Dec 2011. I think 10 years ago today. Still only 27 - he’s got to be one of our most under rated players.

Brilliant run yesterday to set up that Connolly/Maupay chance late on.

Unfortunately he is the one who under rates himself the most. He has so much talent but often lacks the confidence to show it. When he has a confident showing he can be electric.

Think he spent most of those 10 years not believing in himself and being 'potentially' a great player. Seems to be much better under Potter.

Underrated? Not so sure. He has a long standing song sung about him, Maupay’s only just got his!

Like the vast majority of our players, his shooting is awful. Goals win you matches and his are far, far too rare.

However, I do regard him as a top half EPL left wing back and a bottom half EPL winger.

He is bigger, stronger and faster than most people give him credit for. His delivery in terms of crosses etc has improved massively with Potter at the helm and he has very quick feet and some lovely skills. If he had the same eye for goal as someone like Lingard, he would surely attract top six attention.

Injuries have held him back. He played for England U21s, scoring a superb goal at the Amex.
Out of those 10 years, he lost two seasons with ACL injuries.

He is a great servant to the club. I wish he would commit defenders more often and go past them (on either side) instead of stopping and passing back. Is that a lack of confidence or is he following instructions?

Huge Solly fan here

Same here.

For every post rerunning the " He doesn't believe in himself" trope, there should be 3 saying he is the most versatile player in the squad and worth his weight in gold.

But there won't be.

It will descend into the usual "no end product", "no belief", bollocks.

Can I be arsed to do this all over again.

Ok then.

The passing backwards happens when he surveys the options and realises no one is making themselves available/making runs.
This has been a recurring issue with Albion teams.

He won't waste the ball on pointless showboating.
He's an intelligent footballer, who has learnt at the knee of the likes of Bruno, Groß and others.

If you say so. Alternatively, if he went past the defender on the outside the central defenders would drop back, opening up space around the edge of the area. If we went past on the inside he would open up space for a shot or a cut back and would commit central defenders towards him, opening up space on the far side of the area. Or he could just pass back to Burn who can pass it back to Dunk who can pass it back to Sanchez.

Before his latest injury he was playing the best football of his life. When he is on form he’s superb.

Love the player.

The often overlooked part of his game is his tenacity, willingness to fight for the cause, closing all opposition avenues down their right.

Sorely missed after Anfield early this year.

Sussex born n bred, proud of the lad.

He was a very important part of the team which got us promoted, and has played a key role in the Premier League years. He can be proud of what he's achieved in his 10 years at the club, no doubt about that at all.

Which is precisely what he does when the opportunity is there.
When it isn't he doesn't. Simple as.

I love that touch of edginess he shows. I am always happy to see Solly on the pitch - works hard and is often exciting to watch.

Really enjoyed his cameo yesterday. He got us on the front foot. He worried them when he had the ball and harried them when we didn't. He was the reason we got a point out of the game. Massive credit to Solly, Solly March.

Regardless of opinion, that was a classy put down! :lolol:

Scored the goal that got us promoted ! A legend just for that (and the goal that took us to a FA Cup semi final)
