Oh dear oh dear, well l guess it was coming, he had been a sufferer of Parkinsons for a long long time.

As a former Gooner, (my dad taking me to Highbury in their glory years of the early 1970's), l saw a lot of Ray Kennedy's goals in their League/FA Cup double winning season, 1970/71.

R.I.P. Ray.

Not only one of the greats and a Liverpool legend, but he played in one of the greatest kits of all time. Take a bow Liverpool Hitachi kit, home AND away!!

RIP Ray, what a player.

He was a quality player in his day. I didn't realise he had Parkinson's for 37 years. R.I.P Ray.

Saw him in my first ever game at the Goldstone, in 1979, when Liverpool won 4-1. RIP.

I was in The South Stand that day, behind the goal. I can still remember how well he took his goal.

Bob Paisley, who knew a thing or two, said:

"Ray’s contribution to Liverpool’s achievements was enormous and his consistency remarkable. So much so, in fact, that on the rare occasions he missed a match, his absence was felt deeply, simply because he was a midfield powerhouse with tremendous vision and knowledge of the game…In my view he was one of Liverpool’s greatest players and probably the most underrated".

RIP to a great footballer.

A great player, had a grace and style with a really decent engine. I’ve just hit 59 and one of the worst things about that is seeing past idles leave us. A very sad day.
RIP Ray Kennedy. YNWA

One memory I have as a kid, was him scoring a fantastic goal for England against I think Hungary( could be wrong)
the ball he hit stuck right in the top corner of the net between post and cross bar held there by the way some goals were built back then. Never seen that before or since.
RIP

Would have played more for England had Brooking not been around. Some great players in that Liverpool side. RIP

I think that was Trevor Brooking that scored that goal against Hungary
