Bizarre this isn't all over the news...

David Meller gives Michael Gove £3,000 and gives the Conservative Party £60,000.

Michael Gove, the Minister in charge of contracts refers Meller to the VIP fast-track lane for PPE contracts.

Rejoice, Meller's company gets a £164m contract.

Worse still Meller’s company was just 1 of 47 awarded PPE contracts after referrals from politicians and officials

Its little surprise Johnson stood up at COP and voluntarily confessed "Britain is not a corrupt country"

Just totally bent.A licence for corruption. These stories have been around for months yet the government up until now has not been held to account in the slightest. It should be dominating our news schedules but it isn't. This for me is one of the more shameful episodes in our mishandling of the covid crisis, the exploitation of it for profit by friends of the government.

What is becoming increasingly apparent is how established PPE suppliers were shut out of the procurement process completely, they tried to contact their usual NHS trust purchasing contacts but were informed they had no authority for expediture.

They were told it was being handled by central government, all attempts to engage at his level failed and calls were not never returned.

Unfortunately we have a right-wing dominant media in this country and as such they won't say a word against their "side"

there are such claims, yet at the time suppliers said they didnt have capacity. or products simply didnt exist and new production was needed (eg visors).

Still we have such an effective opposition party so …oh

they all do it, promise no tax increases then increase taxes. spending goes up. id ban any politican from making such claims outside of costed and legally binding manifesto pledge, its all lies and deception otherwise.

though at a tangent, i have to laugh that Thatcher is still alive and living in their heads, and also flag the undercurrent that government is responsible for providing jobs.

So why didn't they return calls to vetted NHS suppliers? Why did companies with no trading history, no industry experience and / or negligible net worth receive such huge contracts? Look on companies houses, it ain't rocket science..

I've been through the process of supplying to NHS trusts and becoming an approved vendor isn't easy.

What's more, even after the said panic such contracts just kept getting awarded.

This makes the MP expenses scandal of a decade ago seem very trivial in comparison

Bojo has got the electorate where he wants them.
We are all so exasperated by the level of incompetence and corruption, that we jsut accept it as normal.

No need to hide it, no need to resign when challenged on it.

The electorate will continue to vote for him, because the alternative is being portrayed as a much worse option.

he mentions they were shut becaus of little stock and supply was imported. the reason the move to cental supply happened was because the trusts said they couldnt get anything, the suppliers said they couldnt cope with demand and the country screamed for something to be done.

no one asks root cause, why the department responsible needed a fast lane and didnt have contingency plans.

Is any of this illegal? If so why aren’t they being prosecuted?

Contingency plans like Operation Cygnus in 2016, which were completely ignored by the Tories.

That caller also said he had access to a reasonable amount of PPE and already had an import licence from China where the vast majority of PPE is made.

A bit better than Matt Hancock's mate down the pub, don't you think?

A call from a PPE supplier with 30 years experience of supplying PPE to the NHS.

So small, established, long-term NHS suppliers had PPE or had access to it.

The NHS Trusts they supplied had been banned by Hancock from purchasing PPE from these established suppliers because all purchases had to be made by central government.

Hancock & Johnson then handed out the contracts to their pals who had no PPE and no immediate access to it.

Many of those awarded the "buddy contracts" never delivered any PPE anyway.

Can't see anything wrong with any of that. It is exactly how I would expect the most corrupt government in my lifetime to behave. It's time we all moved on.
