Clever ploy by them. Happens so little, being in the North made the 2nd half even worse.

Surprised more teams don't try that. Mind you, didn't stop us scoring in the North like we always do. Wonder what the stats are for Albion goals at either end. Reckon it must be about 75% - 25% in favour of the North

We did the same only last week at Anfield. Dunk won the toss and made Liverpool kick towards the Kop in the first half. They scored 2 at that end.

It's a game of two halves on a football pitch.

All in the mind, all in the mind.

Exactly the same as a new manager bounce.

I thought the Club shrink could sort these things.

I suppose it depends what you're expecting from the game. I think Newcastle were hoping/expecting to be level or maybe having sneaked a goal and want the support of their fans right behind their defence as they faced an onslaught in the seocnd half/late in the game.

I think other teams are perhaps more optimisitic and think they want to be attacking the end with their fans in as they mover into the final third of the game to have that support for their attackers.

Nearly the opposite this season.
7 home games - 8 goals scored - North 3( 2 Pens) - South 5 ( 1 pen)

Overall at The Amex we've now scored 351 goals in 250 games with 206 of them being scored in the North goal (20 pens), 58.7% of the total and 145 scored in the South end (12 pens), 41.3% and have been shooting towards the North goal in the 1st half only 19 times, 7.6% of the time, winning 10, drawing 6 and losing 3 (to Palarse, Arsenal and Newcastle, so they had history in turning us around for the 1st half before. That was the promotion season when they scored the most ridiculous multiple deflected goal late on to pinch the points). So actually shooting North first isn't always a bad thing but just feels wrong!

Something that must be taken into account is that more goals are scored in the second half of matches than the first. So if we virtually always attack north second half then stats dictate we should score more goals in that end.

Is it simply because with the away fans in the south, by having us attacking the North in the second half, they are attacking towards their fans, and they then get the perceived boost that brings ?

With three more goals scored in the north against Liverpool (2nd half), any of you satiations out there know the north/south ratio this season?

..

By my calculations it is:

North = 10 goals (Leeds x 1, Leicester x 3, Chelsea x 1, Arsenal x 2, Liverpool x 3)
South = 6 goals (Leicester x 2, Chelsea x 3, Villa x 1)
