[Albion] Positives from Today (Newcastle)

That second half was poor and the atmosphere was very flat. Feels difficult to find positives but here goes:

1. Trossard, an excellent performance and really kept at it. Looked our most dangerous player.
2. 90 minutes in the legs of Bissouma who now gets a break.
3. 70 plus minutes for Lamptey who looked lively.
4. It’s another point in the bag from a bang average performance . Could have easily lost that at the end so take a point and move into the break.
5. We scored a penalty convincingly for us.

That’s the best I can manage! Have a good night folks.

The first half wasn’t terrible. Granted, a better side would have had the game wrapped up by half-time, but the first half not being the second half, that’s a positive… right?

Seriously? The only positive is that we didn't lose from a winning position - at the cost of Sanchez.
We need to wake up and play for 90, rather than 45 mins.

To be brutally honest, it was always going to be a bit tough. They knew his high Smugness was in the stands and his mere presence was clearly enough for them to show a bit of fight. I maintain we should have turned the screw more after our goal, but as the bbc said we were utterly dominant up until they got the goal against the run of play. Then the dynamic shifts, and (yes) we're still a country mile off being world beaters...

However:

Lewis Dunk went in goal and we kept them at bay until the sweet release of FT.
We weren't actually that bad.
The first time we’ve ever successfully deployed a false 9 and 1.
We move level on points with Ronaldo and co.
Lamptey seems to be getting there
Biss is playing and building his fitness
We have a chance (again) to beat Villa and cement Smiths departure.
I suspect NM will start against Villa too
Webster will surely regain his place

I'm okay with the result tonight, the Liverpool hype was kind of bound to see us drop off a bit. A stark reminder of the difference between us and them and the thin margins between us and the bottom half.

Time to refocus (during the next break) and come out for a full 90 with a truly worthwhile performance.

Left at full time, there was no queue at all for the train and we walked straight onto the platform where a train immediately arrived. Home less than 25 minutes after the final whistle.

That’s it.

First half was acceptable. Not great but acceptable.

Lamptey looking like his own self, truly back now. Too bad Graeme Jones isnt Steve Bruce and they did ok to limit the Tariqian impact.

While the draw is not really "positive", a loss would have felt... a lot worse.

Webster seems fit again, Lamptey is almost there, Bissouma looks fit, Burn fit after the break Wellbeck and Alzate making better progress than expected both fit by Christmas, another game unbeaten and best of all Dunk gets a late call up for England in goal by soppy bollox Southgate, still looking good for Thursday night trips to Transylvania next season, dunno why everyone seems so upset with the result.

All the disciples worried about a 'big club' coming in for their Messiah can rest easy as the Albion slowly regress back to the norm.
