So Wellbeck is off to see a specialist as the hamstrings have had enough, bad news but frankly it was always a risk not getting another body in up front as we all knew .
But it is what it is and we have to find another way and another striker from within the club until at least January, the choices are slim but Tolaj must now come into serious reckoning for at least a spot on the bench and from what I've seen I don't think he will disappoint.
He reminds me of a older breed of striker in the Mickey Small type , excellent at winning flick on headers in midfield for a player to run on to and holds the ball up very well, of course this is mainly against U23 players and he will find it a whole lot harder in the EPL but I reckon if called upon he will do a job and not let the team down or reduce the quality of play already there.
There's absolutely no way we can continue the season successfully with just Maupay and Connolly because odds are one will pick up a injury or the opposition dictates we play with 2 strikers.
This is a massive opportunity for someone to grab and it will be interesting to see how Potter goes with this one .
We can't really expect Ferguson to step up so early in his career and of the two recognised strikers we do have Tolaj is the obvious candidate, unless there's another option he will be involved pretty soon in the matchday squad .
Anyone else have another solution perhaps even continue without a striker on the bench I don't know but it will certainly be interesting to see how we manage without Wellbecks experience .
