Excellent article by James Gheerbrant in Times.

As usual, he is full of stats. start by pointing out what we already know: that let down in both boxes last season. Scored fewer and conceded more than Xg stats suggested.

Then continues by emphasisng the change this season:”….good shot stopping by Robert Sanchez at one end, and excellent finishing at the other: Neal Maupay…has the best shot conversion rate of any Premier League player.”

“Another key to Brighton’s success is their pressing. They are allowing their opponents 10.9 passes before defensive action - only Liverpool and Manchester City are more active in defence. Brighton are also top of the League for successful pressures, define by Statsbomb as an occasion where a team regains possession with 5 seconds of applying pressure, doing so more than 50 time per match.”

Article ends heaping praise on Potter, in particular his ability to analyse mistakes, adapt, and get the best from his players.

Concludes: “With 12 points on the board, Brighton have already minimised their chances of relegation. For the first time on their five-season year stay in the Premier League, they are a team looking up, not down”.
