Just seen an article on the BBC website regarding a Gay Pride march in Brighton in 1973. Apparently the negatives have only just been found in a draw in the Argus offices.

I bet the people in the pictures could not have imagined how big the festival would be in years to come.

Easy to forget how things were then. The handful of people taking part certainly had more guts than I have to do what they did! Brave thing to do given the social attitudes back then. Funny seeing just one policeman keeping an eye on things! Now the police can take part, thank goodness!

At least they had a march!

Still can't find any explanation for this year's Pride being cancelled when London, Manchester, Southampton and even Worthing Pride events are going ahead.

Seems very odd
