You can even catch a boat to France from there

It's famous for the ill fated raid on Dieppe in1942 (my grandfather actually took part in)

Ho Chi Minh has a plaque there

And one of the French kings stayed at the Bridge Inn,when on the run

I’ve been all round Sussex and I have to say Newhaven has to be the bleakest spot in the county. By a long, long way.
As for Neptune visiting the place? I wouldn’t have thought so.

It could be worse - I gather in the west of the county there are roads leading to Portsmouth and Southampton :shootself
