Well we’ve had I would rather watch Gardners World, I don’t understand why football fans would want to create a hostile atmosphere when we have home advantage to we haven’t beaten anyone good yet :lolol: boring old sods

Anyone who has the 'i just cant get excited' opinion needs to keep that opinion their own and leave the rest of us to enjoy this.

Italy didn't even qualify for the last world cup.

I want to be excited, but naturally watched the game out with other fans so need to watch the re-run to see if there was any booing of the Denmark anthem. If there was, I’m embarrassed and can’t be excited anymore.

I got booed myself when I took the knee. I wouldn't mind but I was only retrieving a beer mat from under the table.

Southgate you’re the one. You still turn me on, Football’s coming home again

Englishmen still rattling on about the unfairness in their opinion of the winner, shocker.

Only in this country, people pissed off that we’re still in the competition.

If the interwebs had been a thing in 1986, would fans of, say, Banfield have been on their equivalent of NSC (The Drill?) wringing their hands about Maradona's moment of infamy?

I'm trying to enjoy the ride but because of previous heartaches I have an in-built fear that we are about to crash.
I actually avoid the TV and radio features of everyone getting excited because I don't want them to suffer the pain we had to suffer after, Maradona's cheating, Italia '90, Euro'96 (I was there for every England game) and various other tournaments.

As Southgate said, our youngest players and supporters think this is the norm.
It's great to see so many people happy.

Our country deserves a footballing break and this group of players makes me feel proud.
I hope they smash the Italians and a massive party follows.
My wish, like every other English person, is that by 11pm on Sunday I'm able to dispense with my happy shield and join the celebrations.

Meh. Load of Brexit-voting racist gammon proud that they belong to the country that invented slavery. Shouting uncouthly, throwing beer and generally not behaving in a decorous manner. England is the worst country in the world, every other nation is more progressive and better than us, and no other nation is rude, shallow or nationalistic enough to care about the result of a football match. I don't care if England win on Sunday or not. I'm so ashamed.

..... or not.

All a bit OTT on this thread. Are people really that affected by those daring to express an alternative view of their own personal England experience? I’m sure we’re all enjoying it to greater or lesser degrees in our own unique ways.

Ahh, the Euros. That little piece of football viagra to keep us going between world cups. What is not to like? Much better than the transfer fairy tale filled non tournament summers.

Enjoying it but nowhere near the feeling I've had previously with England. 40 years of failure and **** ups have cured me. It's brilliant, no thumping heart, twitching or flinching during the game. Just enjoying watching the matches.

I even let out a laugh when the free kick went in. Was it the first goal from a free kick this tournament? Classic England if so. The high of winning is nowhere near what it used to be, but there's no fear of failure. I don't think it wouldn't affect me much.

Brighton on the other hand, feels like torture. Losing ruins the weekend and I dwell on it all week.

I’ve recently thought that sort of thing through.

Imho, no.

Many other nations seem so passionate about their national sporting teams and heroes, they’re worshipped when successful. All the Latin American countries, Italy, all the Balkan nations, etc etc.

Britain’s a funny old place. A load of people wished failure on peak; Faldo, Hamilton, Mansell, Andy Murray, Prince Hamed, Damon Hill.

Pre and post internet, I just think there’s a noisy minority of very unhappy souls in the UK, who display that through bitchiness and schadenfreude against sporting fellow countrymen/teams.
