Hi all.

Who is the go to electrician on NSC (Brighton)? My cooker/oven is flicking the house's trip switch, and will not turn on.

Any help gratefully received!

If it is definitely the oven that is the problem, you need an appliance engineer rather than a sparks

Hello mate. Are you still one?
Been off the tools for the last 7 years mate. Have been training the new breed in the academies and in the field and now on the technical support desk.
I would have a look but I’m up to my arse in alligators at the moment doing my old flat up and just haven’t got the time unfortunately

2 questions

1 - What the fudge is going on here?
2 - What can I do to safely remove some of the spaghetti?

A new socket won't fit.

There's a hole in the back plate with one of each wires going through.
A hole in the bottom plate with 2 of each wires coming through.

There's a socket across the room that also has 2 of each wires.

& In writing this I've realised.

There's also a socket on the other side of this wall, which I guess is accounting for the other cables.

Highly likely the element has gone. If you're competent and confident you can do it yourself, I did my son's oven and the element was about £12 off amazon.
If you're not 100% sure you know how to isolate and test, pay someone.

Hopefully he’s got it fixed by now, either that or gone hungry since June 21….it’s a bounced thread

Thanks mate. But as our Newhaven correspondent says it was fixed some time ago.

Leave well alone if you are not a qualified electrician

Nah, where's the fun in that.

My edit was right.
1x3 wires were coming from the socket on the other side of the wall, on the landing.
Ive pulled that out and will just put a blank plate over the hole.

What was left managed to, just, fit behind a new socket.

Power back on, all good.

Had I not panicked (default ask NSC) this :bounce: wouldn't have been necessary.

Due to a series of purchases that gradually moved away from the original theme, we can also add 'hollywood' set designer to the list.

Unfortunately I've managed to turn a section of the bedroom into what can only be described as 'the set of a late 1980's porno'. :lolol:

To much Tracey Adams.
