I think you may be forgetting that a mod has the ability to hard delete any post, making them entirely disappear from the record and, crucially, from the total number of posts on a thread.
That would be a clear abuse of power though.

I think you may be forgetting that a mod has the ability to hard delete any post, making them entirely disappear from the record and, crucially, from the total number of posts on a thread.
