I was FORCED to try a banana sandwich today after being told how nice they are

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve put between two slices of bread?

Peanut butter and jello (jam). I have always and will always refuse to eat an abomination.

Very keen on a crisp sandwich, though. White bread*, butter*, a smear of shippam's fish paste, and a layer of smokey bacon flavour crisps. Surf and turf

Alas, *unavailable to me now owing told Old Man's dietary issues. :tantrum:

Banana sandwich IS a classic. Brown bread. Ripe banana. Proper butter.
I'd also recommend peanut butter and cucumber :)

I love a banana sandwich. Fresh banana slices, with a light sprinkling of nutmeg.

Gawgus.

PB&J is lush  Perfect combo of salty and sweet. Also great energy food!

Crisp sandwiches are also amazing. Salt and vinegar with a slice or two of cheese (vegan for me) is very tasty .

I quite like leftover lasagne, heated, in a sandwich. Must have really lashed on the salted butter though :)

I make a lot of sandwiches, because I'm too tight to go out for lunch all the time. Regular favourites:

Haslet with Philadelphia
Cheese and Bovril with silverskin pickled onions
Cheese, tomato and salad cream with ground black pepper
Roasted gammon with cherry tomatoes and english mustard
Tuna mayo with red onion and sweetcorn
Sliced boiled egg, tomato and salad cream
Roast beef with horseradish

Tomorrow will be the gammon & cherry tomato. In case you were wondering.

I can't think of many foods that aren't perfectly sandwichable. Being stuffed into a baguette is a fitting finale for any leftovers.

I was very weirded out when someone offered me a crab sandwich whilst in Aus. But it was delicious.

Crab sandwich is a classic. Growing up in Dorset it was traditional fare. The simpler the better. Crab meat between two heavy slices of bread with real butter and a rumour of mayonnaise, drizzled in fresh lemon. Keep you going all afternoon. Nothing better.
