Won the 3 points on his own today. Involved with all our best chances and both the goals.

Probably his best all round game today, but he's been great for us the whole time.

By far our best striker and we would be mad not to sign him up for another year.

Just said the same thing. Well worth another season.

Absolute class. Wonderful all round performance and stunning goal.

And as I’ve been saying since he joined, our best attacker by a distance. Some comments about Welbeck on this site have been as poorly judged and embarassing as the ones on the Lingard threads.

We HAVE to sign him uo next season, Maupay is not in his league.

He’s earned a new deal based on this game alone.

Crucial, crucial goal just as Leeds were really coming into it. Beautiful goal, incredible technique. Man Utd / England era Welbeck today.

Well played Danny.

Oh this isn't gonna go down well, esp after such a performance.

I don't think he should be back next year.
As the saying goes:-

Better to lose them a year early than a year too late - Bill Belichick.

Assuming the club will still be going with Maupay he'll need a striking partner who can play how Welbeck played today considerably more often through next season.

He’s only 30

Did Bill Belichick say that last year?

Realistically do you think we could better on a free?
Maupay is the more obvious one to need upgrading . His technique will never be up to this level

Been doing very well all spring after what I still think was a poor run back in September-November.

Sign him up for another year, with the option to extend it for another - wouldnt give a flat two year contract to a 30 year old player with his injury history, so I'm thinking 1+1 would be a good solution.

More or less embarrassing than your BDB vs Pulisic comment last week? More or less embarrassing than after a great 2-0 win use your mancrush as a bat against what you percieve as a rival to your mancrush?

Welbeck did well again but he is playing with his teammates, not against them.

I'm not retiring him.

If they were a normal club I could see him back a Watford, scoring 5 goals and having occasional days like today.

The Albion need more than that as the previous 33 games have shown.

Why does his replacement in the squad have to be free?

He’s started 14 games, sub in 7, 5 goals, 2 assists. Other than MU, all his contributions led to points. I’m not saying we keep him and he’s leading the attack again, but I’d rather we had him to turn to than Maupay and Connolly if A.N. Other is coming in.

He’s absolutely worth a punt. But not at the expense of a move for a more permanent solution.
