What is currently running (probably) annoyingly around your head for much too long?

After hearing it on the radio a few days ago, I keep hearing the chorus “Tell me what is my life without you by my side” on repeat after repeat after repeat

Driving me nuts, I don’t even much like the song ffs

This song has been in my head all week. I am starting to really like it...

As I’m getting older, I’m finding myself increasingly disliking ‘current’ music. In particular, I dislike the work of Dua Lipa (my missus insists on having Capital FM on in the car) however she has the canny knack of getting her tunes stuck in my head, which is frustrating given the modern music model of churning out as much music as you can to make as much money as possible while you remain relevant.

I could swear modern music is deliberately programmed to do just that; there must be certain notes or frequencies that have a tendency to stick in your head. The shysters.

Steely Dan have an implausible amount of songs that will annelid their way inside your shell-likes. I've shared Peg because it's brilliant. Jay Graydon's guitar solo often stimulates my tear ducts, and as for Chuck Rainey's bass playing: perfection seems too trite a word.

Earworms are fascinating when a song plays in your head that is totally unrelated to anything you've heard in recent times- even for years.

That's happened to me a lot and I'd love to know more of its psychology.

Thanks to my granddaughter,
I've been staring at the edge of the water
'Long as I can remember
Never really knowing why
