How soon is now?
Clubs are a bit wary of this now because of Covid restrictions. Depends how young he is, if he's under 10 then it's softball only and he doesn't need much in the way of gear

Exactly this. He’s 12, and whilst the club has kit spare they’re not allowed to lend it out. He effectively needs the lot, although there will be a few bits(the box) that we’ll want to buy new

What’s the concern with borrowing kit ? Think covid can only remain on kit for 48 hours can’t it ? Or can the clubs get a fogging machine like some places have got ?

Seems a bit much to expect kids to buy everything to get into a sport they may / may not like

TBH I have no problem borrowing kit, but the club are reluctant to lend it at the moment

Try asking on your local Freegle / Freecycle / Next Door forum etc
Likely to be some people with kit they're not going to use, or that kids have grown out of?
