The wife and I do this once a week on our beach walks in the Lancing to Worthing area. Amazing how much we pick up in just a couple of hours. Usually at least 1 full black bin liner of rubbish and occasionally more.

I wouldn’t do it not by hand anyway , maybe with a gripper thing .
You never quite know what you’re picking up . Fortunately the beaches in Brighton and hove if you stay away from the area near the pier are usually not very messy from my experience although not as spotless as the ones in the Hamptons !
