LOVED the way he took his chance tonight.

One touch and BANG. Emphatic finish that gave Pope no chance. First goal Pope has conceded for England too.

Bodes well for the future if he can bring that clinical finishing to Albion games.

He looked really calm and composed, his passing was also excellent.

Agreed.

Sadly though he'll never fit in at BHA with that type of behaviour in the box.

He improved as the game went on

He did.

He still looks like a young player at this level though. Has a slight callowness about him, despite his height.

I'm sure in a year or two he'll be puffing his chest out a bit more

It’ll be great for him going back to training at the Albion this week having got a goal for his national side vs England at Wembley.

To be fair, we normally need a few* more chances for a goal. Great opportunity afforded by Stones (why can’t we play a proper defender), and taken well by our man.

*the value of shares may go down as well as down

He'd never have got that chance if Dunk was playing.

Is what I expect Lewis will be telling him on Friday.

Shouldn't the thread title continue with...

..'what does he actually do?'

I liked the way he kept his discipline and never got pulled out of position. England didn't go past him hardly at all.

And he's still only 21. We've got another good one.

The pundits are all blaming Stones , but I thought the pressing from Modor was very good. See how far away from Stones he was when Pope passed the ball out. He got to Stones very rapidly, and I think it surprised Stones.

Great finish as well.

The question is where does he play in an Albion side.

I don't see him as a long-term LWB like March, he is very tidy and his passing is excellent. He also seems to have a good nose for when to get forward.

Ultimately, I see him on the left of a central pair with Bissouma.
