IFAB who are in charge of the laws of the game have just clarified the handball law.
Key change.
"Accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence."

Fulham fans particularly upset given last night but i'm guessing that Welbeck's handball from the December match would no longer have been an offence.

But that photo also shows Lallana in an offside position.

And it still relies on a human's interpretation of the word 'accidental'.

Did Welbeck score that one as I dont recall in which case still no goal as the rule seems to only apply to the assister not the scorer.

VAR ruled that out if i recall. It was the handball that nixed it.

They're not - it comes into effect on 1 July. Which means we'll be in the odd position of ruling out goals for something that's being scrapped in the near future!

Although I suppose it can't actually be any worse than the present one - or can it?

Which therefore depends if it's a Top Six team doing it or 'teams like Brighton.'
