Tradition/superstition. It's always been that way. I don't think I started it originally and have wondered myself. I suppose that if they are below us, they are doing bad and bad = red? I'm aware there is/was an issue with tapatalk users not seeing the full range of colours available on the browser version, and did offer a change in colours last season (I think, maybe the season before, I presented a range of greens, someone brought up different colours because of the colour blindness issue), but it seemed people wanted to stick with it as it was.

Fair enough. No problem with the colours as they are myself. I suppose a 'solution' (should one be needed) would be two thick black lines, one under the teams we can't catch, and one above the teams that can't catch us.
