Not really. The boy has been playing u23 football and now he's playing against experienced, professional footballers who are older, stronger and probably quicker. Of course a young CB is going to find it difficult. There isn't a professional CB in the world who walked straight into being a top player immediately. John Terry needed a loan spell at Forest to sharpen up, Van Dijk travelled around for a while and even took a break from professional football by playing for Celtic. Sergio Ramos was a right back for the first few years at Real Madrid, etc.

He’s not going to be much bigger than Ben White so on the left of a 3 he might work.
Otherwise he is going to have to become more crafty in his approach to dealing with them. He is still very young so a lot to learn. He just needs to be patient and allow himself time to grow as a player.
