[Albion] What’s a typical Potter goal?

Serious question and one I asked last night but forgot on which thread it was on?

I’m wondering what a typical Potter goal looks like or it is a case of great approach work then getting the ball in the box and see what happens? The goal at Leeds looked great but we won’t be playing Leeds and their basket case defence every week.
Last night’s goal was scrappy with the ball falling to Veltman to hook it in. Would Maupay and Trossard have done the same?
Lallana, Welbeck and Ali J spurned chances near the end. Although semi jokingly Biss has said Potter has told him not to shoot from distance.
Then there’s the corners and free kicks that come to nothing.

Like many here I’ve watch every match under Potter and still can’t fathom out a “typical Albion goal”, etc since GM left.

I could believe Biss has been told not to take shots, no one has really stuck their head above the parapet on having a pop from outside the box ( Ali Mac does sometimes) yet we conceeded virtually every shot taken like it until Little Maty went.

given the 'must win' games are against bottom 6 , often the11 behind the ball/park the bus teams you'd have thought crafting an opportunity for a man in the D would have a higher chance of succeeding than tippy tappy ballet and a 3 yard tap in.

20 passes and a tap in , the Maupay goal v Leeds would of sent him to bed grinning like a Cheshire cat .

Because he likes to play with wingers, but need wingers (and preferably a strong central striker) to be able to do that. Think some of the current players in the squad (Trossard and probably Maupay/Connolly if they got some training in the role) could play as wingers but not without a tall, strong striker to give them space. Tbh when Lamptey and March are playing its almost like playing with wingers already but not quite the same without them.

I completely agree but then it begs the question of why was this not part of our strategy in signing players. Trossard has been the only winger we've signed under Potter and he's more of an wide playmaker than a winger. He's also converted March into (a very competent) wing back. To me it seems like he's decided that is not the path he wants to go down with Brighton, and that's a bit of a shame because quick, exciting wingers are quite fun to watch.

A GP goal is a team goal, that is born from the GK, through defence, midfield and then one of our strikers to pull away leaving space for an Albion player to score*
We'll never have that Muzza style player again, whilst GP is in charge, so the strikers we have will have to adjust their style of play to suit GP's instructions.
Cannot be that simpler:shrug:

*Or a miracle may happen and a striker will score...

Wingers are dirt expensive these days, same prices as strikers basically. Perhaps a non-covid we would have seen some steps in that direction with a fat striker and a slim winger coming in. Still think its going to happen sooner or later, wouldnt be surprised to see Veltman & Lamptey playing at the right side together before the season is over.
