I'm not sure whether these are universally believed but over the years I've heard these two repeated a few times.
1.' No professional player would ever go onto a pitch and not give his best.' Clearly nonsense. If this were the case why would we talk endlessly about 'motivation'? Surely we could just assume that 100% motivation was a given?
2. 'No player would ever go onto a pitch and deliberately injure another professional.' Clearly nobody told Roy Keane!
