We all think he's a few choice words, but when it goes beyond football then the law has got to be stronger. Not a slap on the wrist, but start looking at custodial sentencing

Some of his decision making lately has been bizarre to say the least, but nothing justifies this kind of reaction. This is a disgrace.

I obviously do not agree with death threats , but he does at times go out of his way to intentionally antagonise fans.

Maybe don't do that anymore, and just act like a professional?

Its way past the time for twitter to make fake accounts a thing of the past.

Social media fuels this stuff

This is the answer. Wild west time is over

What is being said needs to be traceable back to an individual who can be held liable for statements published in criminal and civil courts

Are the bots all traced back to St. Petersberg troll factories or to the Kremlin itself ?

Realistically it should be illegal for Twitter and Facebook to allow bot accounts at all.

I dont think he's a good ref, makes far too many incorrect/controversial decisions, and he's got to a status in the game where it seems he enjoys the ''fame''. As Rio Ferdinand put it the other night it far too often becomes The Complete And Utter Shyster show when he's officiating. But to go beyond your opinion of him as a ref and make personal threats to him and his family because he sent off one of your players is just ridiculous behavior & needs punishing. We all get annoyed if Brighton have a bad weekend, but you're a ****ing loon if you start threatening violence towards someone because of it.

This !!!!

Problem being is that when you appoint a publicity seek idiot to ref a match and one that regularly gets things wrong you risk this type of reaction. Like you, I don't condone it but I also have zero sympathy.

I thought that referees were scrutinised and demoted if they were deemed to be sub standard by the FA. Surely as others have mentioned he needs a break or extra training.

Not even for his wife and kids?

Come on, the blokes crap at his job, but we all know people who are crap at their jobs. Would you have no sympathy for them if they received death threats because of it?

Totally unjustified. I feel sorry for him as certainly for the West Ham sending off, he gave a yellow and then was asked by var to look again , thus pressuring him to upgrade it to a red . So actually var got it wrong .

Being threatened with violence is unacceptable, coming at a time when violence in London has risen with 10 stabbing recently , albeit mostly but not exclusively gang related .

OK, fair enough - yes - for those around him I have some sympathy .... if for no other reason they have to live with him !

Still in Brighton
- he looks ancient and is a poor ref, time to retire him.

- death threats are both pathetic and should be punished (erm, anyone remember the Albion fan punished?)

- who, seriously, would want to be a ref nowadays,? So sad and however bad they are they need respect (from the players for a start) and protection.

- interesting to watch the superbowl - no disrespecting the ref there, all miked up and explaining decisions. Why is football the only sport so far away from this?
