[Albion] How are young signings like Moises looked after by Brighton?

Moises is a young player aged 19 coming to a strange country and he probably cannot speak English. Would he be in a hotel with other youngsters? Would he be with a Spanish family in Hove? Would he be in Brunos spare room? How would he get to training? Can anyone help please?

A lot of players, akin to academy players, basically get babysitters or sponsored families to look after them, whilst over here.

Had the same thought. It must be really daunting moving to a new country at such a young age, knowing that you're under the microscope. A lot to cope with for a 19 yo kid.

I don’t know what the club does, but have dealt with this kind of ‘transfer’ in another industry regularly and suspect the principles will be the same......there are specialist relocation firms that help with loads of the aspects of such a transfer, and given the size of the club now would be very surprised if there isn’t a ‘relocation manager’ or similar permanently employed to keep everything smooth and to help the player out however is required.

Things like serviced accommodation (at least initially), paperwork, tax, bank accounts, transport etc will all be laid on with established club contacts/contractors. He’ll probably have some form of appointed ‘buddy’ (another Spanish-speaking player perhaps), regular check-ins with the co-ordinator and probably a 24/7 concierge service.

I doubt the club have left any stone unturned in making sure he settles in as well as he can and have a well-established process for this.......

Did I read somewhere that he had been having English lessons in preparation for his move to Blighty?

It may have been a different player.

Yes, but what about the foreign players?

The Dutch/German players will be giving the English lessons

Club will put him up in a B&B on Lancing seafront, a wooly jumper, a Grifter (with ever ready lights) and a nokia. Job done.

At a guess, The club must have some set up, 'foster homes' or a B&B or digs of some description. I know of a few companies who own houses for visitors, cheaper and a better investments than hotels etc.

I heard from someone with a kid in the academy that the club have 40 flats somewhere near the training ground to house young players and their families.

This was touched on briefly in another thread but the club have properties for use in this sort of situation. He’ll have a player liaison officer from the club assigned to him to help him sort stuff like groceries, get a phone contract etc. The younger lads in u18 and u23 have “host families” that they basically lodge at and are looked after by.

Living in the real world.
My sister owns a apartment block in Brighton where a few of the players that are new live. Can't remember the name of the guy who looks after the players, but pretty sure he has to drive them around in the early stages.
