Isn’t it genuinely nice to hear one of our players talk up our club like this?

“I used to get up and watch matches early in the morning when I was a boy and it's great to be playing in the league now.”

You must be very proud to have achieved that at the age of 22 and settled into a new country?

“Yes, I am very proud with how my career has gone so far and to be playing at this level in England.
“I'm doing my best every day and trying to always improve at a great club who are growing.”

It gets lost in my mind sometimes how young these lads are. 22 years old, moving the other side of the world to a country that doesn't speak your language and a totally different culture, weather etc...

OK so they are 'living the dream' and getting paid well. But still they are really young and like anyone, will have their own 'stuff' going on in their head.

The Ecuadorian lad we're supposed to be signing is 19. Bloody 19. Hardly out of his nappies.

As an aside, Mac A comes across as a decent lad, seems to fit well in with our NDHP (No Dick Head Policy).

Exactly. And a lot of young footballers get a bad rap.

Sure, there are some bad eggs. But guys like Alexis here, Tariq, are remarkably mature for their age, and show a real appreciation for the job they have.

We have to give recruitment huge credit for the characters they bring in. The one slightly exception of course being Andone... who I like as a player, but clearly a hot head.

A few years ago would of always stereo typed attitudes of Argentinians to be suspect but Ulloa , Schelotto and MacAllister have changed this in my mind.

Schelotto particularly impressed me with his attitude when not always picked. Alexis Mac seems to have a lot of these positive character traits

100%, Yves is another incredibly impressive one, only 24 now, and was playing for Lille from the age of 15/16 having grown up in a small Ivory Coast town, both him and Mac display maturity way beyond their young years.

The club almost certainly have a ‘relocation specialist’ - either directly employed, or through a specialist firm. They’ll have various accommodation options for the lad and will sort it all out for him.......along with moving his stuff, bank accounts, tax etc etc. Usually would have initial short term accommodation (serviced flat typically - quite possible the club have a few properties precisely for this reason) before making a longer term choice. Wouldn’t mind betting he’ll end up in a nice pad in the marina like a few others seem to have done recently.

Exactly. Argentina don't do crap number 10s. Somewhat bemused why Potter hasn't let him have a crack at it before but now that he is finally being given the opportunity to play we can see why he is Argentina's number 10. And he is only going to get better.

I don't know if this is still the case, but Ashley Barnes allowed the club to rent out his house in BH, to players, when he moved to Burnley.

At the marina ! Really . I know where 7 of the team live - Central Hove , Hove Park & Hurstpierpoint. I don’t know any that live in the marina .

Gary Dicker lived at the Marina for nearly a year before getting his own house. It's a club flat that newcomers get put into, instead of a hotel.
