This reminds me of an incident that happened at Normans Bay unmanned crossing around 1987/88.
My dad (ex BTP) got called out to attend a death at the crossing late at night.
It turned out to be two of my former school mates who were in a car driven over the crossing, when on the red lights.
Ultimately the train hit the car at speed, one survived and the other down the track minus its head.
Still remember it to this day
