Lamptey full of praise for Potter as his manager and his coaching.

He obviously needs to log into NSC so some of the experts here can put him right.

At the end of my tether
Good news that he has signed a long term deal with us.. However, am I the only one getting worried about his continued absence?

Of course I don’t want him rushed back too soon but I just hope he recovers and stays fit , that’s all

No, you're not the only one.

He asks a lot of his body at that age, so some injuries are natural.

We'll have to manage him carefully in the coming years.

Just seen this news.

Fully deserved for Tariq, and a very good piece of business for both the club and him. It would appear that he’s content with his lot at Brighton, so maybe the big money move is not a motivator for him. £2m a year salary is not to be sniffed at, and he seems a grounded young man.

Just hope the hamstring issue is a temporary injury and not a recurring issue. I hope the delays are because the club want to ensure he has the time to fully recover and not be rushed back.

Be amazing to get Biss on a contract extension too, but I fear that we’ll be losing him before next season.

Different sport and all that, but just look at Pat Cummins. Constantly injured when he first burst on the scene, barely played at all for a few years due to repetitive injuries ... now look at him. His body has matured, he's learned the lessons from the injuries (and IIRC had some highly specialist corrective surgery), and he's (hope I'm not jinxing him here) been Australia's #1 pace bowler consistently, and done it pretty much injury free for a while now.

The team, and Lamptey himself, just needs to manage the demands on his body carefully. I'm all for giving him and extra match or two to ensure the recovery is solid before bringing him back. A little short term loss for (hopefully) long term resilience.

The whole article is baseless conjecture. Do people really pay a subscription to read that crap?

I do.

Costs me £1 a month

There are OTHER articles more than worth the 25p a week costs across a wide spectrum of sports that the Athletic offers

Off/on topic.....one bIt that caught my attention in the article was the bloke saying that the new deal doesn't affect/effect (never know which one!) the price we'd ask for Lamptey,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,LIKE HELL IT WOULDN'T!

Guardian Rumour Mill has this take on our full backs:

Tariq Lamptey is staying at Brighton thanks. “We knew his potential when we signed him and hoped he would have a really positive impact on the club, and that has proved to be the case,” said Graham Potter. But Bernardo is going back to Leipzig, presumably because though Brighton hoped he would have a really positive impact on the club, that has not proved to be the case.

£2m a year at that age is a disgrace. When I was his age I scraped by on £1.5m a year. Disgusting.

2m. Bargain of the decade. Can't believe he signed for that long. Any other club in this league he's on double that plus (except possibly Burnley and Sheffield United)

Bernardo has gone to Salzburg on loan.
