Pretty good but thought they overdid it by showing how he killed each victim, got a bit repetitive. Was a bit overlong. Also, were there no Dutch/German actors available? Still enjoyed it though!
Definitely missed a trick by not casting Schteve McClaren to play the part of Cloggie Knippenberg in his later years.

Enjoyed this, in part because of the repulsion Sobhraj generated. But also in part because of the design -- primarily clothes, but also the cars indicated what a brilliant range was around there rather than the identitkit offerings of today -- and the music, I loved the way that it was so of that era but I'm not sure I could recognise anything.
On a similar note, we've been watching it pretty much alongside The Queen's Gambit, which also deserves a special mention for all sorts of things, but very much including the music and costume design.

For those interested in this series and the story behind it, there's a Podcast series on BBC Sounds called Bad People and they've done three specials on The Serpent - two include interviews with Paul Testar, one of the show's producers and the other with Julie Clark, who wrote On the Trail of the Serpent. Well worth a listen.
Regards the series itself, I struggled a bit with the first few episodes - didn't like the carnage he was causing and couldn't help worrying about my daughters ever going backpacking - but was eventually hooked.
