We're struggling. We all know that.

So you're the coach/manager. Pick a side to break this hoodoo. But (in GPott alchemy style) you HAVE to try something different with the existing squad. What do you do, with rationale?

My go...

Keeper - Big Bob

Back 4: Veltman, White, Dunk, Webster (four fabulous ball playing defenders - one can surely play left side)

Holding 2: Biss & Propper (best player at the club by miles paired with a mobile, technically gifted partner)

Pivot: Trossard (he looks dead so get him to play that free-roaming ghost role with firm instruction to shoot when he can't offload)

Front 3: Lamptey. Welbeck; March (pace to burn up front and all three can defend from the front as an added bonus)

If I were the manager I’d be seeking clarity from Bloom about the strategy and asking him to communicate it to the fans in order to manage expectations. He needs backing in the transfer market if there’s to be a push to retain our PL position. He was certainly let down in the summer although I suspect Lalana and Welbeck will be on good wages thus hitting the players’ budget. Recruitment where we’ve spent larger sums has generally been very poor with few players worth more than their original fee.

My line up however,

Sanchez
Lamptey, Webster, Dunk, White, March
Bissouma
Lallana, Propper (or Moder)
Maupey, Welbeck

Time to sign Roy Race and providing he can find his boots, Billy Dane.
Once this duo are signed I would fully expect us to go an 100+ unbeaten run.

a galaxy far far away
Team and formation will change depending on opponents and injuries etc

I would apply these selection principles

Players not played out of position (no Burn or Veltman in attacking positions etc)
Fitness and athleticism a prequisite for a position in midfield (not Lallana or Gross)
If Lamptey fit, the presumption is 3-4-1-2 with wing backs. If not, the presumption is 4-3-2-1

-------------Sanchez
-------Veltman Dunk Burn
Lamptey Alzate Bissouma March
----------------Lallana
---------Maupay Wellbeck

If Lamptey isn't fit

-------------Sanchez
Veltman Webster Dunk Burn
-Propper Bissouma Alzate
---------Lallana March
-------------Maupay

In both teams Trossard and Gross to compete for Lallana's spot when he is injured.

Veltman, Bernardo and Burn cannot cross the ball so pointless playing them as wing backs

I think most people’s starting 11 would be similar.
Sanchez
Lamptey Webster dunk white march
Bissouma Propper/moder
Lallana
Welbeck Maupay

Maupay can not play up front by himself, he is not fast enough , strong enough or quick enough. It could work as a 3 but only with Lallana and Welbeck ( maybe trossard can fill in for Lallana when on form)

Potter has struggled to deal with the loss of Lamptey and Lallana, I think we should be reverting to a flat back 4 with Veltman and Bernardo- Bernardo is 25 not so long ago we thought we may lose him to Liverpool, he has looked competent at LB, why the hell does Burn get in front of him?

I would like to see a physical option up front, preferably with pace - could this be Dia ? Also maybe a bit more bite in midfield.

Most importantly give the players the freedom to play, play a faster Game instead off stoping and passing back when we get into the final 3 rd.

So many are saying we do not have the players, we do They need to be allowed to play their natural game and played in their best positions. This is not happening and that is down to potter.

One more thing, emotional intelligence and psychology is all very good, but I believed that some players may respond to a a bit of a rocket now and then. They are not learning! And Potter’s style is becoming more and more conservative.

TB should be getting GP into his office and ask him how is is going to turn this round, if TB is not convinced - time to say good bye.
