Seems to be a trait of Potter - give player a chance, player plays well, is dropped and never seen again. See also Alzate this season. He did it to someone last season as well, possibly March.

He did it to Ali J at the turn of the year. Dropped from the starting XI after the Bournemouth game, scored a cracker against Chelsea but hasn’t started a game since. Until tonight of course.

Stolen from Twitter, well it made me chuckle anyway.

My prediction.

Maty will retain his place ... until January, when we'll spend big on a replacement, maybe the Turkish lad.

Why has Sanchez jumped ahead of Walton for most supporters? He’s back fit now so surely Sanchez returns to 4th choice?

He doesn't want young Sanchez getting above his station maybe?

Obvious nonsense.

It's because he doesn't rate him as ready.

Yes, he played him against Spurs, but every other game he's not made the 18.

Probably because he played well against Spurs.

Seems a bit much that one performance jumps him ahead. Walton has been a Championship regular but good to have two very good young keepers.

Sad to see a player we all love like Ryan struggling but might be time for a change sadly.
