Sadly it's damaged beyond repair.

The 305 metre dish with 990 ton antenna, has be decommissioned.


In the podcast I heard the news they went onto say it was only supposed to be a 3m dish for studying the earths atmosphere.
Somehow the measurements got x'ed by 100 and voilà deep space is in play.

I wish I could find where Leon got that snippet as I'd love it to be true.

It was decommissioned a few days ago. Now part of it has collapsed on itself.

Decay is both sad and cool at the same time. Never heard of this place but of course recognise it from the movie. In the perfect world (or the less perfect world depending on how you see it) it would just be allowed to stand their and decay forever and turn into the perfect, not-so-safe UE target.

Sean Bean must have landed on it heavier than they realised.
It's a real shame,even if it was superceded it would have been nice to preserve as it's an impressive structure.
