Barber did an interview ages ago talking about this. I think his view was that this would NOT be helpful to smaller clubs like BHA as our natural target player in the EU is less likely to have the required points (compared to the natural targets for bigger clubs). Hence yet another advantage for the big guys. Perhaps in reality the points system will set the bar lower than Barber feared. Anyway, this pending rule change was almost certainly behind some of our recent transfer activity - we've hoovered up quite a lot of EU players in the last couple of transfer windows. Hopefully some of them come good!

Would someone like Maupay be able to get a work permit for a club like Brentford in future? Guess who hurt lower league clubs to a degree, Kuipers wouldn't have got a work permit, nor Calderón or Knockaert I expect
